In the Silence of Distance: A Poem
Shared laughter and whispers, or so it seems.
But now the clock ticks, and shadows grow long,
Your voice, once a melody, now feels like a song.
You’ve vanished like echoes in a faraway night,
Leaving me searching for the warmth of your light.
Messages linger, but replies come so slow,
What once was a river now trickles like snow.
I wonder if memories fade like the stars,
If caring for others means leaving behind scars.
You say you’re away, tending to kin,
Yet I’m left here wondering where we’ve been.
A picture, a call, a glimpse of your heart,
Would tether the distance, would bridge us apart.
But silence speaks loudly, in the void you reside,
I question my place, while you turn the tide.
Though I miss you deeply, I’ll stand here and wait,
Hoping for moments when you’ll resonate.
In the silence of distance, I’ll hold on to hope,
That one day you'll return, and together we'll cope.
